The Complete Job Search Organizer 1997-'98: How to Get a Great Job-Fast
Published in Paperback by Kiplinger Books (April, 1997)
Author: Jack O'Brien

WOW... very helpful!
WOW! That was my first impression of this book. The information contained has helped me to see exactly what I need to be doing about a job, step by step. It shows you what reasons there are for working, how to prepare yourself for todays work world, how to plan a job campaign, organize your job campaign, market yourself, how to contact individuals, how to interview and what to do when deciding where you will work. This information meshed dramatically with my interest in finding out what I need to be doing about getting a job. I knew that contacting individuals and then speaking to them was a great step, yet I never knew the nitty-gritty details of everything. I was very impressed to find a section of the book that will match your major to your career. This book explains from school to the real world, what you can do to better your learning. This organization helped because it presents the information in a road map form. I usually like to do things in a very organized fashion. I like to make lists and see what I have accomplished, what I need to accomplish and what the best way is to go about doing things. I like to see how you start from scratch, building and building and then have a great final picture or project. I feel that the information in this book is presented to me in this type of form, even including checklists for me to use, relating to what I have accomplished. I feel that this information will be a good wrap up tool to organizing my thoughts before going into an interview for either a job or an internship, thus I feel more comfortable having found these tools to keep me on track with what I should be doing.

Crackling Mountain and Other Stories

Authors: Osamu Dazai and James O'Brien
Average review score:

A NIhilistic version of Japanese famous folklore
"Otogizoshi," a nihilistic anthology based on some Japanese famous folklore by famous novelist, Osamu Dazai. Crackling Mountain, Kachi-Kachi yama in Japanese is originally rather cruel and abuserd falklore, in which a naughty badger kills an old lady and a rabbit revenges for her in cruel way. Here a rabbit is described as a young and capricious woman and gives new lights to this rather absurd and cruel Kachi-Kachi Yama stories.

Required reading for any retailer
In this age of tough competition and lowered margins, any retailer who can't keep their costs in line is destined to be a former retailer. One of the most basic costs to tackle, yet the most difficult to get a grasp on, is inventory loss. CUT YOUR LOSSES! is a must read for any retailer. Whether you have been in Loss Prevetnion for years, are just starting, or had better be starting soon, this book is an excellent resource. This book does not spend your valuable time giving you an in depth view of the psychology of a thief or how to estbalish a corporate Loss Prevention program. While that may be important, it won't solve your problems. CUT YOUR LOSSES! comes right out and tells you what is happening and what you can do to stop it. It is a quick and easy read that you can put into pactice as you go. If you were to only pick on book to get you going on Loss Prevention, this would be it

The nephew he never knew he had. Only, Justin belonged to someone else. Brooke Davenport. She'd adopted him in good faith, believing him to be an orphan baby. Dan O'Brien (Overcoming the Odds)

Dan O'brien is an inspirational athlete and a great person.
Dan O'brien is a inspirational athlete and a great person. Not only has he survived the hurdles thrown at him in his life, he excelled past them to truly beat the odds. What is so great about this athlete? He is honest. In his past he has done drugs, drank alcohol in the excess of becoming an alcoholic, and partied a bit too much. Yet he admits it. He not only was ashamed of his past but knew that he need to turn his life around. He did it with the help of longtime coach Mike Keller and excelled not only on the track but in life also. It takes a big man to admit he is a failure. But it takes a bigger man to change his ways. Not only did Dan O'brien do both of these thing; he also became the Worlds Greatest Athlete of all time!!

A Dark and Bloody Ground
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Harper Mass Market Paperbacks (May, 1994)
Author: Darcy O'Brien
Average review score:

WELL WORTH THE TIME
Darcy O'Brien did a exhausive amount of research on the subject, which provides the foundation for a well written book. It doesn't hurt that the main players in the robbery-murder crime are perfect for a TV movie.

O'Brien does not paint the gang members as good or [bad], rather he simply tells the individual stories woven into the collective plot about the crime and provides the reader insight into the personal motives of the main players.

You actually can't develop negative feelings toward the criminals because O'Brien is able to outline their human misconceptions and mistakes that brought about their downfall.

The book is worth reading to anyone but I would imagine anyone from the Kentucky area where the crime took place would really enjoy the book.

My Toddler's Favorite at Grandma's
I have a 2 year old who started reading this book with Grandma several months ago. She reads it to him in a sing-song voice that just enthralls him. Some days she'll re-read it 7 or 8 times. If you have irish roots you will enjoy sharing this book with your kids. And I think they'll really enjoy it.

Dental Materials and Their Selection
Published in Hardcover by Quintessence Pub Co (June, 2002)
Authors: William J., Phd O'Brien, Ivar Andreas Mjor, and Williams J. O'Brien
Average review score:

Clear , Concise and Reader Friendly
This book is "reader friendly!" It is excellent as both a reference book and a study tool. The explanations are clear and concise along with the accomplying graphs, charts and photographs. All combine perfectly to enhance ones understanding and comprehension of the topic. It delves into the biochemical aspects, biocompatability and application of dental materials. Each chapter is accompanied by a glossary of terms, discussion questions, study questions and a thorough list of recommended readings. After reading this book, you should have no problems of understanding and working with dental materials. The author even offers a historical perspective on older, outdated dental materials as well as the future of dental materials. I like the author's style of writing and his ability to organize themes in a logical manner. (I actually came across this book by accident in my dental school's library after being somewhat disappointed by Ferracane's book that I had been using for school. It is a good book, but it just did not quite reach the depth of explanation required for the test exams.)
